与普通蝶阀相似，鸭嘴式快装蝶阀的蝶板为圆盘形，在阀体内绕阀杆的轴线旋转。当阀杆在手柄或驱动装置的作用下旋转时，带动蝶板旋转。蝶板平面与管道轴线平行时，阀门开启，介质可顺畅通过；蝶板旋转 90° 与管道轴线垂直时，阀门关闭，截断介质流动。通过控制蝶板的旋转角度，可实现对介质流量的调节。
